The Tampa Police Department seeks the best possible candidates to become police officers with our agency. The department seeks those who have an interest in law enforcement and have no prior law enforcement certification. In order to attract the best-qualified candidates, the department developed the Police Recruit Scholarship Program. Those selected for this program are enrolled in the local Police Academy.
The City of Tampa will provide funding for their tuition, uniforms, books, and equipment. These students are hired as “Police Recruits” and are full-time civilian employees of the City that are paid an hourly wage and given full benefits.
