Sidewalk Public Messaging Campaign Public Art Project Designed for Social Distancing Safety Awareness

This information is 4 years 8 months old and may no longer be accurate.

Following the success of the first pilot public messaging campaign reminding people to practice social distancing in high-density public pedestrian right-of-ways, the City of Tampa is adding new artwork to City sidewalks and trails. The messages will reflect social distancing and #HappyAtHomeTPA messaging, and these messages will be painted using a temporary spray chalk. While people can still take a walk, ride a bike, hike, jog and be in nature for exercise, the City wants to remind everyone to just keep at least six (6) feet between others in the community.

The sidewalk messaging will be implemented beginning at 10:30 am on Wednesday, April 22nd in the following locations:

  • Main Street, west of Howard Avenue
  • 21st Avenue, west of North 15th Street
  • Courtney Campbell Trail at Ben T Davis Beach
  • Bayshore Boulevard, north of Julia Street
  • Bayshore Boulevard & South Carolina Avenue
  • Bayshore Boulevard & Gunby Avenue
  • The Tampa Riverwalk near the Convention Center
  • The Tampa Riverwalk near Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park
  • Kennedy Boulevard & Franklin Street
  • Cass Street Cycle Track & Ashley Drive
