Mayor Jane Castor and the City of Tampa Wish Ramadan Kareem to Tampa's Muslim Community

This information is 4 years 7 months old and may no longer be accurate.
As Muslims throughout the world begin the holy month of Ramadan, Mayor Castor and the City of Tampa would like to wish many blessings to all who observe and celebrate.
For many in our community, Ramadan will be different this year due to COVID-19 and the need for social distancing. However, Mayor Castor would like to remind Tampa’s Muslim community that even while we are apart, we are never alone.
“Although the dining halls of the mosque may be empty, no one has to break the fast alone,” says Mayor Jane Castor. “Family gatherings will take place on-line and other creative forms are being developed by local leaders to continue the praise and make new connections. Islam is too important to leave anyone behind.”
In a video message about Ramadan, Mayor Castor also thanks Tampa’s Islamic community for the generosity they have shown to all people within our great city during this difficult time, including feeding families in need.
Mayor Jane Castor and the City of Tampa wish Ramadan Kareem and many blessings to all observing this sacred tradition.
