New Tampa Recreation Center Expansion Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

WHAT:  Mayor Jane Castor will officially cut the ribbon on the new expansion at the New Tampa Community Recreation Center.

WHERE:  New Tampa Recreation Center, 17302 Commerce Park Boulevard, Tampa

WHEN:  March 3, 2021 at 3:30 p.m.

DETAILS: The City of Tampa is expanding its recreation space to accommodate New Tampa’s growing population. Mayor Jane Castor plans to cut the ribbon on a 5,715 square foot expansion at the New Tampa Recreation Center that will enable more residents in the area to access recreational programming. The ribbon cutting is taking place at the New Tampa Recreation Center, located at 17302 Commerce Park Boulevard on March 3, 2021 at 3:30 p.m.

The recreation center expansion features several indoor amenities including the City’s first electric retractable batting cage and a unique fitness area outfitted with rubberized flooring and artificial turf to accommodate specialized training such as batting practices and small group workouts.

The upgraded space also includes a dedicated preschool gym and a dividable multi-purpose room to allow activities ranging from dance classes to public meetings to take place simultaneously. Additional restrooms with easy access from the playground were also part of the expansion.

Community members are invited to participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony virtually on Facebook Live via the Parks and Recreation Facebook account.
