- The applicant brings in two sets of plans along with a completed application.
- The applicant submits the plans and application at the express commercial counter to be placed in the designated Fire Inspector's bin. The Fire Inspectors will check the bin daily for any plans to be reviewed.
- The Fire Inspectors review the plans for the type of permit requested on the Fire Marshal Permit Application.
- If plans are disapproved, the Fire Inspector calls the applicant to provide status of review and arrange for pick up of plans or meeting with the applicant. Once the plans are revised, Step 2 is repeated.
- If the plans are approved, the Fire Inspector brings the plans to the Permit Center and places them in the designated Fire Marshal Permit intake bin for processing.
- The Permit Technician verifies a valid address and the type of permit to be issued.
- If there is an existing project, the permit will be added to the project.
- If there is no existing project, a project called "Fire Marshal Permit" is created, and the permits created as identified on the application; comments requested by Fire Marshal as well as the name of the Inspector who approved the plans are entered.
- Upon creation of the permit, the Permit Technician notifies the applicant that the permit is ready to be issued.
NOTE:
These procedures do not apply to Above Ground Tank Installation; Underground Tank Installation; Fire Alarm; and Fire Protection (sprinkler system).
For these, the Plan Review distribution matrix must be followed.
