Mayor Jane Castor will deliver a proclamation in support of Tampa Navy Week today, Wednesday, March 23. This ceremony will honor the brave men and women who are serving or have served in the United States Navy.
The celebration will take place at 10:30 a.m. on the pier of the American Victory Ship, one of only four fully-operational WWII ships in the country. The American Victory Ship is a true American icon and is recognized on the National Register of Historic Places.
The ceremony will include:
- Delivery of the Tampa Navy Week Proclamation
- Swearing-In of Future Sailors
- Navy Brass Band Performance
- Tampa-native Sailors (Fleet Outreach Ambassador Team (FLOAT))
- U.S.S. Florida (SSGN 728)
“Tampa Navy Week provides a unique opportunity to show the incredible service the U.S. Navy provides to families not just in our community, but the entire state of Florida,” Mayor Jane Castor said. “We have thousands of enlisted sailors in Florida who help our state grow and thrive. This is just one way we can collectively thank them for their service.”
