Nearly a hundred people got their first introduction to rowing earlier today at Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park.

The City of Tampa Parks & Recreation Department, CANDO Sports' Team Tampa Rowing, and The Tampa Athletic Club hosted the 22nd Annual U.S. Rowing National Learn to Row Day earlier today.

This was a FREE event and introduced people to rowing on the water. Middle school, high school students and adults of all ages and sizes were encouraged to attend (minimum age of 10 years old).

Each session was two hours and included technical instruction on land and on the water. Local youth and adult rowing programs were also on site to help you learn more about rowing opportunities throughout the Tampa Bay area.

“Tampa Athletic Club offers rowing lessons and athletic opportunities to adults in the Tampa Bay region and is proud to partner with the City of Tampa for National Learn To Row Day," said Victoria Mattie, Head Coach for Tampa Athletic Club. "It's a great way to introduce the sport of rowing to our community in a free, fun and safe environment. Information about upcoming learn to row classes for adults will be provided.”
