The City of Tampa’s Stormwater Engineering Division (within the Mobility Department) is developing a Citywide Watershed Master Plan (WMP) to study all the watersheds throughout the City. A “watershed” is the area of land where all of the water that falls (or drains) ultimately ends up flowing to the same place—such as a river, lake, or bay. By understanding how water moves across these watersheds, we can identify and prioritize flood risks as well as stormwater capital improvement projects that will help reduce flooding, potentially lower flood insurance rates through the City’s Community Rating System (CRS) program and improve our eligibility for future grants
We Want Your Input!¶
If you have any photos showing flooding near your property—especially those that indicate how high the water rose, or any debris left behind once the water receded—please share them with us. When you upload your photos, please include the exact location (such as a street address or nearest intersection), along with the date they were taken and a brief description. This real-world evidence is invaluable for fine-tuning our models and ensuring we have an accurate understanding of local conditions.
What This Means for You¶
Implement a watershed master plan that provides complete citywide coverage for all watersheds through project development, watershed evaluation, floodplain analysis, alternatives analysis, and feasibility study.
Benefits:¶
- Proactive and holistic stormwater management
- Identify remaining flooding issues and prioritize future CIPs
- Reduce flood insurance rates for citizens through improved CRS rating
- Enhance sustainability and resilience
- Improve environmental equity
- Better positioning for future grants
Please Upload Photos and Provide Details¶
Please provide the exact location and upload a photo to support your concern –– this will help improve the accuracy of our stormwater models.
