Gymnastics Information

The gymnastics program offers an outstanding curriculum, state of the art facilities, and expert coaching. Our coaching staff has over 25 years of experience developing athletes of all ages. Our coaches focus not only on the physical skills necessary for gymnastics, but the positive mental attitude that will impact an athlete’s life in and out of the gym. Our curriculum offers all level of programs from preschool to recreational to competitive.

Our philosophy stresses the importance of developing well-rounded athletes. All of our athletes are taught the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and hard work. Our coaches believe that finding that special quality in each child helps to provide a positive influence and foundation for success in all areas of life.

Our coaching staff has both personal and professional gymnastics experience at the national and collegiate level. All our coaches are USA Gymnastics safety and skill certified, which means that our athletes are getting the best and safest gymnastics experience.

Dress Requirements

Female Gymnasts - Leotard, nothing on legs or feet (no tights or socks). Avoid wearing beads, barrettes, balls, or other bulky hair accessories as they interfere with performance and can be painful.

Male Gymnasts - Soft shorts and T-Shirt. No zippers, snaps, or buttons, bare feet.

Program Descriptions

Ages: 1 year old by September 1
Class duration: 45 minutes

We are teaching fundamentals that help prepare children for the future. A few skills we hope your child gains from participating in this program are: coordination, self-confidence, problem-solving, and a sense of exploration. The class is centered around floor exercises, where there will be stations set up for the parent and the child to explore and play together. Parent participation is highly encouraged as this class is a great opportunity to explore the wonders of gymnastics with your child, side by side. To better benefit the child, this class recommends a 1:1 parent:child ratio.

Ages: 2 years old by September 1
Class duration: 45 minutes

This class is designed for the toddler and parent to work together exploring the wonders of all the equipment used in gymnastics. This class emphasizes taking turns, following directions, and working well with others. There are themed lesson plans each week that are centered around floor exercise, balance beam, bars, and Tumbl Trak. This class requires that the parents help with the students during the class instruction as well as during free exploration time.

Ages: 3 to 5 years of age as of September 1 of current year
Class duration: 45 minutes

This is the beginning level of our gymnastics program. In this class, we are teaching fundamentals that helps prepare children for the future. A few of the skills we hope your child gains from participating in this program are: taking turns, coordination, self-confidence, problem-solving skills, following directions, and working well with others. We incorporate gymnastics and physical fitness in a fun, safe environment where the child comes first. There are special themed lesson plans each week that are centered around the floor exercise, balance beams, bars and Tumbl Trak.

Grades: Kindergarten & First grade
Class duration: 1 hour

This class is designed for the young beginning gymnast. Our focus in this program is to teach the proper drills, skills, and conditioning for our beginner level gymnasts. Proper stretching techniques and strength training will be emphasized to provide a foundation for continued progression. Students in this class are reaching towards accomplishing the following skills: running drills and proper board hitting drills on vault; front support, casting, pullovers with a light spot and bent arm hold on bars; increase confidence on both low and high beams, walking and balancing on beam; and positioning, forward rolls, handstand kick-ups, cartwheel and backward rolls on floor.

Grades: Second to 5th grade
Class duration: 1 hour

This class is designed for the young beginning gymnast. Our focus in this program is to teach the proper drills, skills, and conditioning for our beginner level gymnasts. Students in this class are reaching towards accomplishing the following skills: running drills and proper board hitting drills on vault; front support, casting, pullovers with a light spot and bent arm hold on bars; increase confidence on both low and high beams, walking and balancing on beam; and positioning, forward rolls, handstand kick-ups, cartwheel and backward rolls on floor.

Grades: Second to 5th grade
Class duration: 1 hour twice a week or 2 hours once a week on Saturdays

This class will further build on core skills taught in Kindergym® and Girls in Action I. Gymnasts will progress to intermediate level skills on all apparatus that will require increased strength and flexibility. Proper skill execution will be emphasized to promote safety and future advancements. Gymnasts will learn accelerating run, arm-circle, springboard entry and hand stand flat back on vault; casting, back hip circle, stride hold and glides on bars; handstands, turns, and tuck jump on beam; and handstand forward roll, backbend kick over, and round offs on floor.

Grades: 6th grade and up
Class duration: 1.5 hours twice a week

This class is an advanced recreational gymnastics class that builds on Girls in Action I and II. Gymnasts will have the opportunity to challenge their ability in a program where the sky is the limit. Gymnasts will follow proper progressions to safely achieve advanced level skills at their own pace. Proper skill execution is strongly emphasized. Gymnasts will learn front handspring onto stacked mats and front handspring on vault table on vault; glide, kip drills, front hip circle on bars; cartwheels, turns and advanced dismounts on beam; and front handsprings, back handsprings, perfected round-offs, back walkover on floor.

Ages: 5 to 17 years
Class duration: 1 hour

Students will learn proper stretching techniques with an emphasis on shoulder flexibility, necessary strength training exercise, and core tumbling skills. Included in this are a bridge, handstand, cartwheel, round-offs, front limbers, back walkovers, back handsprings, round-off back handsprings, and front walkovers using effective drills and training tools. Skills learned in this class will provide a strong basis for continued progression.

Ages: 7 to 17 years
Class duration: 1 hour

This class is designed for tumblers to learn and progress their running tumbling passes. A solid unassisted round-off back handspring is required to participate in this class. Tumblers will have the opportunity to take their tumbling to the next level. Our knowledgeable instructors will assist gymnasts in enhancing their strong elements. Tumblers will work on their back handspring series, back tucks and advanced running tumbling combinations.

Class duration: 1 hour

This is a permission class which is tailored specifically for the developing gymnast. Gymnasts will be introduced to the basic core skills of gymnastics on all four apparatuses. Proper stretching techniques and strength training will be emphasized to provide a foundation for continued progression. Gymnasts will learn the following beginning skills: proper running technique, running drills and hitting the board on vault; front support hold, pullover and casting; front support hold, pullover and casting on bars; walking in all directions comfortably on the high beam, balancing and straight jumps on beam; and bridge, forward and backward roll, handstand and cartwheel on floor.

Ages: 4 to 6 years

Class duration: 1 hour 15 minutes twice a week

This is a permission class which will further build on core skills taught in Tiny Tumblers. Gymnasts will progress to intermediate level skills on all apparatus that will require increased strength and flexibility. Proper skill execution will be emphasized to promote safety and future advancements. Gymnasts will learn the following skills: accelerating run, arm-circle, springboard entry and hand stand flat back on vault; casting, back hip circle, and beginning glide swings on bars; and handstands, turns, lever and tuck jump on beam; handstand, forward roll, backbend kick over, back walkover, round offs and leaps on floor.

Ages: 5 to 8 years

Class duration: 1.5 hours twice a week

This is a permission class which is designed for gymnasts who desire to be in a warm but challenging environment. Students will have the opportunity to perfect their intermediate level skills while progressing to advanced gymnastics skills on all events. Gymnasts will learn the following skills: accelerating to arm-circle springboard entry and beginning front hand spring drills on vault; glide, sole circle dismount, squat on and tap swings on bars; handstands, cartwheel and split jumps on beam; front limber, back walkover, back handspring and round off back handspring floor.

Ages: 7 years and up

Class duration: 2 hours twice a week

This is a permission class is designed for gymnasts who desire to be in a warm but challenging environment. Students will have the opportunity to perfect their intermediate level skills while progressing to advanced gymnastics skills on all events. Gymnasts will learn the following skills: accelerating to arm-circle springboard entry and beginning front hand spring drills onto stacked mats on vault; glide, under swing dismount, squat on and back hip circles on bars; handstands, cartwheel and split jumps on beam; and front limber, back walkover, back handspring and round off back handspring drills on floor.

Ages: 9 to 17 years

Class duration: 1.5 hours twice a week

This is a permission class that is the most advanced recreational gymnastics class offered. It is designed for gymnasts who desire to be in a enthusiastic but challenging environment. Students will have the opportunity to perfect their intermediate level skills while progressing to advanced gymnastics skills on all events. Gymnasts in this class will have the opportunity to perform in our in-house competition, with our experienced coaching staff judging. Some Gym Achievers join the AAU program and experience competition with other gymnastic clubs who have similar programs. Gym Achievers have the opportunity to compete at the AAU State Championships in late April.
