Picnic Island Park

Who needs to go to Clearwater to find a good beach when you have one in South Tampa? Picnic Island has a beautiful white sand beach featuring tranquil waters and breathtaking sunsets. There is also a separate, gated dog beach just south of the fishing pier.

The extra-wide concrete boat ramp is open 24 hours with an adjacent fishing pier and nearby restroom facilities. There are 13 spaces for vehicle with trailer and 30 vehicle only spaces. The ramp is poured in place concrete in excellent condition with one double lane.

A sandy playground with a lot of benches to sit and watch your child play in the Florida sun. The playground features jungle gyms, slides, swings, and a rope climber.

Spacious shelters are available for your outdoor event and are equipped with picnic tables, grills, and trash receptacles. A large corporate event shelter is also available. Permitting for the shelters is handled by the shelter office.

A scenic disc golf course with more topography than most Florida courses. Wind can be a factor as the park gets cool breezes off the water. Watch for picnickers, sunbathers, and dog-walkers!

There is one sand volleyball court with padded wooden posts and surrounding bench seating at Picnic Island Park. The court is located north of the southern parking lot.

The Picnic Island Park facilities include restrooms and an outdoor shower. Drinking fountains are also available for people and pets. All facilities are well maintained, well lit, and clean.

Park right across the street from the mangrove tunnel canoe and kayak launch and enjoy the waters around Picnic Island Park.

The Picnic Island Park is a great place to workout outdoors. The Energi Total Body Fitness Systems stations are scattered around the park to keep you moving and your workout diverse with informational kiosks showing the variety of different exercises available using the equipment.
