Homeowner Disaster Assistance Program

The City of Tampa is offering three types of Hurricane Disaster Relief for homeowners, funded by its State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) funds. These are available for primary homesteaded and income eligible residents of Tampa (140% Area Median Income and below ). The housing unit must be the applicant's primary homesteaded residence with verifiable damages from Hurricane Helene or Milton.

To begin your Pre-Application process, you will need:

  • A valid e-mail address
  • WiFi access

After you register and complete the Pre-Application, you will be notified on Monday, March 31 if you are eligible to proceed with your Homeowner Disaster Relief Program Application.

There are three types of assistance: Insurance Deductible Assistance, Mortgage Assistance and Cost of Repair Assistance.

No. The Homeowner Disaster Assistance Program is available to primary homesteaded residents only, but you may be eligible for our Rental and Move-in Assistance Program, or RMAP.

No. Applicants must reside in the home.

No. The Homeowner Disaster Assistance Program is available to those impacted by Hurricanes Milton and Helene. You may be eligible for Housing Rehabilitation & Renovation Program.

The type of documentation is dependent on the program for which you are applying, but you will also need proof of income and a government issued photo identification for all adult members of your household.

No. All properties must be owner occupied and Homesteaded.

Depending on the program, eligibility, and documentation, it may take up to 30 days to receive the funding once approved. All Mortgage assistance is paid directly to the Mortgage holder.

No, the funds do not have to be repaid.
